Thank you to Matti Paalanen for providing us with a link to the Celestial Aeon Project. This is a one man project of Matti’s. The soundtrack is meant to project with a fantasy feel that follows in the footsteps of Jeremy Soule, Nobuo Uematsu, and Danny Elfman. The project was originally meant to offer background music for pen and paper RPG sessions. It has received a good welcome from RPG players and game masters.
Project Divinity is also a project of Matti Paalanen. This particular project follows in the footsteps of such artists as Vangelis, Global Communication, and Boards of Canada. Soundscapes are mellow, drifiting and contain no tight structures. The musical material of the project has two distinct sides, one being dark and brooding, the other lighthearted and beautiful.
Frozen Silence is another project of Matti Paalanen. This project is a bit hard to categorize as it mainly contains melancholic minimalistic tunes, sort of neo-classical new-age with an emphasis on improvisation and solo instruments.
All three of these projects are free to check out, no strings attached. They make great background music for pen and paper roleplaying games. They are also reminiscent of traditional old-school console RPG music.
